What I love most about our campus is the daily warm and inviting atmosphere created by both our students and staff. The way students take pride in the building and truly embrace the Cougar culture is incredible. Sometimes, I find myself wondering how different my middle school years would have been if I had experienced this type of environment during such a pivotal time in my life.

We have kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month here on campus, I want to encourage everyone to take this time to celebrate the vibrant cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. This month offers a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about diversity, empathy, and the shared stories that enrich our school and community. We will acknowledge Hispanic Heritage Month through our PRIDE advisory lessons, daily announcements, and various events throughout the month. I encourage you to engage in conversations at home that support this learning.

I hope you had a fantastic week! I’m looking forward to enjoying the weather this weekend and catching a few football games. Last night our community came together for our annual Dual Language Potluck. It was a beautiful night filled with lively conversations, music, and informative presentations about our high school dual language pathways. Thank you to Mr. Hopkins and Ms. Gonzalez for hosting such a rewarding night!

I hope that you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend! This week we really got into the groove of things and kicked off some fun classroom activities and our athletic season. As we all know, middle school is one of those time periods where it often feels like a whirlwind of physical, emotional, and social changes happening all at once for our children. It is also a time where they begin to feel invincible, independent, and ready to take on the world. It’s what I love about middle schoolers! They are spontaneous, fun, and thrill seekers, but as a parent of my own seventh grader, I know that it can cause havoc for me emotionally trying to keep up with all of the changes happening at once.
