8TH GRADE CHOICE SHEET
Choice sheets due 1/30/25

Q: When are choice sheets due?

A: All choice sheets are due this Friday 1/30 to their science teacher. Students must write their TX history teacher name and period (ex: Clarke 4) on top of their student ID. If your student was absent for choice sheets last week then they can return them to me by the following Monday. 
 
Q: Which classes are semester courses?
A: Art history, beginning theater, ancient and world mythology, creative writing, study hall, health, office skills. If your student has already taken art history, beginning theater, ancient and world mythology, or creative writing in 6th or 7th grade they cannot take it again. 
 
Q: Can I take more than one semester course?
A: No. There is a chance that a few students schedule's will only work with two semester courses, but we will address that after choice sheets are returned and the master schedule has been finalized.

Please let me know if you have any questions! It's a confusing process and I want every student to feel like they made an educated decision.

Our 2026-2027 students will receive their Course Verifications letters in April 2026. These letters list the courses that will be assigned to your student for next school year. It is not their official schedule.

  •  Student Application (4-signatures) and the Release of Liability form must be completed, or the application will not be approved.

  • Deadline Dates for student applications. Late applications will not be accepted:

    •  Fall semester: Due by May 15

    • Spring semester: Due by Nov 15

  • Student applications can be submitted via email to OCPE@austinisd.org

  •  Exceptions will be made for newly enrolled students up to a week prior to the 1st day of each semester

  • Additional Physical Education information may be found in the Secondary Student Information Guide

Athletics Physical Forms

PHYSICAL FORM INFORMATION  Physicals are not accepted until after April 15th. It is recommended to get your yearly physical in April for the following school year so that the physical is valid for the entire sport season. Download the updated physical form after April 15th, 2026.

New sheets are not available yet. Please submit your physical to the counselors or coaches as soon as you have it and no later than your first day of the athletic period. 

Applications & Auditions / Solicitudes y Audiciones

Choice sheets will be due before applications are due. No worries!

  • Advanced Theater Auditions: Varsity Theater Auditions for next year. This is only for students who currently do not have a theater class.
    Recorded auditions are due : FEB. 21, 2026
  • Yearbook Application
  • Office Aide Applications  Applications are due February 6th and students must ask 2 teachers for a recommendation. 
  • PALS  Applications are being accepted until 4 PM on Friday, January 30.  You will receive a pass for an interview once Ms. Vauk reviews your application. Rev. 1/9/26
  • Chamber Choir  
  • Advanced Art
  • Cougar Dancers
  • Jazz Ensemble
